1. Description of Our Community
We are focusing on the local hawker community, which is a unique and prominent aspect of our country's cohesiveness. As we are a multi-racial society, places like hawker centres bring together iconic food items from different racial groups, even having cross-cultural food. The community that we want to represent can be widely seen across the country, with hawker centres spread around the city, bustling with customers all day round.
2. Summary of Our Project
Our CyberFair Web Project is about the heritage and striking aspects about hawker culture. Though it is a normal experience for Singaporeans, it holds a deeper meaning that we should take pride in. We want to share the journey of evolving hawker culture, how it began to how people of Singapore can now easily access hawker centres to indulge in its food and culture.

our computer/internet access has allowed us to smoothly create and edit our webpage together
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
Firstly we had a lack of time as we started late (only in February). However we spanned out our project requirements and worked on it for at least 4 hours a week, building the website whilst compiling statistical data. Secondly, we were stuck on which unique cultural aspect of the country we should work on. We came to a consensus to do hawker culture finally as we all have experienced it.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Our community would be proud to have our hawker culture being presented in an interactive and innovative way to not only educate the younger generation but the foreigners as well, since the foreigners would only eat the food without knowing the background knowledge of the food being prepared and the tedious work the hawkers have to go through in order to present the best dish that could not be found elsewhere in the world.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
Our cyberfair project has focused on a specific topic addressing a local community. As our country is small, we have chosen a locally-originated community which naturally involves all citizens and people of our country. It has uniquely answered the topic of our local community. We have used wix.com, a website development site to create our required website as we had previously learnt skills on how to fully maximise the tools and options it provided. We have added much information and have conducted research and polls amongst people to add on to the value of our local community.
